Even if you choose to stay in with a take-away supper and a DVD you still get a precious night to just be yourselves with each other again.

- Think back to your favourite places when you first started dating. A beach, a forest, somewhere you can go and take a picnic, spend half a day. Even if there are children it can be fun remembering, and the gesture will be appreciated by everyone.

- Run a bath with scented candles, bubbles, warm towels. Either or both of you can enjoy spending half an hour relaxing after a busy day. Followed by a massage, bliss!

- Offer a shoulder rub or foot massage whilst watching TV. Touch is a special way of keeping connected with each other and is a relaxing and thoughtful gesture.

- Pictures and photographs are a very personal touch. Finding special pictures of a place of significance or having an important photograph taken and framed can be a way of signifying how special the relationship is. Some professional photographers will take beautiful, tasteful photographs of the lady dressed sensuously, maybe in lingerie, which provides a fabulous gift for her partner.

- Write a love letter and conceal it somewhere unexpected, like a jacket pocket or a briefcase. Write all the things you love about them, special memories, things you would like to do together. - Send a text message or phone home just to say 'I love you'. Nothing else, just 'thinking of you and I love you'.

- Discovering something that you know your partner would appreciate can be a very thoughtful gesture. Buying a book or CD that you know they would enjoy is kind and considerate, as is seeing a free leaflet for something that would interest them. It's not the cost that matters, it's the thought.

Thought and consideration are the keys to enhancing our love for each other. Expensive gestures can be fine, but something as simple as cooking the evening meal or collecting the dry cleaning can mean more than an expensive perfume or after shave. Just giving our partner the night off whilst we take care of the children or the chores can mean the world to our partner and result in them feeling especially loved and very appreciative.
