Energy Centers: The Root of the Matter

Today we are continuing our exploration of energy and how it works in the body. We are at the beginning, the Root Center. The more you understand this center, the better you will feel and function in your physical body.

This is the Root of your Life, the DNA of your existence. Family and ancestors are rooted here and the energy they pass on to you will be found in this center. If you are wondering why you become "your mother/father", rest assured it is because their energy is still ensconced within this center.

The Root Center lies at the base of the spine. Here is our connection to Earth Energies and is our foundation for being in the world and feeling comfortable with who we are. The following is a simple exercise that you can do to maintain a healthy connection.

Step 1. Stretch. Stretching your muscles and physical movement will help keep you grounded. So before beginning any energetic work, stretch for a few minutes. Reach up to the sky, and bend down towards the earth. Stretch those muscles and really feel them working in your body.

Step 2. Imagine. Now stretch your thinking muscles and allow yourself to imagine as easily as you did when you were 5 years old. If you were 5 and I asked you to imagine the room filled with golden light, you would just do it. It is that simple. So now you can begin to imagine and stretch your inner thought processes. Sit comfortably, with feet flat on the floor, and imagine that the energy centers in your feet as well as your root are connected deep into the earth, kind of like roots. Imagine energy roots that connect through your feet down deep into the center of the earth. And imagine that the center of the earth is filled with beautiful crystals of all colors, crystals that beam energy up your roots into your body. And now imagine that the chair you are sitting on is the energy connection into the earth's center. You can establish this center whenever you choose. And in this connection, the energy runs both ways, from the center of the earth into your center, and from your center back down into the earth. The earth sends you fresh clean energy into your body as your body sends back to the earth the spent, used energy that is no longer useful for you. Anytime you want to replenish your energy and feel an energetic lift, you can connect to this main connection.

Step 3. Allow. Now imagine yourself opening up and allowing this energy to come into your body and rejuvenate. Set your intention to allow all the energy you need to rise up and clean out the old energy in your physical body. Allow the energy to enter your cells and cleanse and replenish. Allow the energy to fill your heart, to run through your nervous system, to energize your lungs, your endocrine system, your immune system, and so on. Visualize and allow the energy to travel throughout your body, cleansing away the old, used energy, the energy that no longer functions appropriately for you, and to replace it with new, invigorated energy. Allow your body to feel the flow of the energy throughout. Allow yourself to feel renewed and alive. Allow yourself to really feel it deeply into your bones. You may have to keep giving yourself permission to allow by simply saying to yourself while you do this exercise, "I am open to allowing this energy flow. I am open to allowing my higher self to regulate this flow. I give permission to my higher self to allow this flow." Or any other words of allowing you find yourself comfortable with.

Step 4. Gratitude. When you have energized your body and you are feeling really good, give thanks to the Earth Energy for the gifts it has given. Give thanks also to your body and your higher self for its wisdom in allowing this energy exchange to take place.

Recognize that what you focus on today will be your future tomorrow.
