Healing by Talking to God

I went up to my room and lay down on my bed to have a quiet time of prayer. Jesus felt so close to me. He whispered softly, \"I am healing you, so rest and let me take care of all your needs. He instructed me not to be so busy in doing things. He laid out my purpose for my life and said he would always be with me on my journey.

Fifteen years ago I was traveling around North America, and I craved a chat with God. In Mexico I asked how much it would cost to make the phone call. The agent said $35 for five minutes. As I continued to travel I got the urge several more times. It cost $15 in Texas, $10 in New York, and $5 in Seattle.

When I got to Vancouver I called from a pay phone and asked the operator, "How much does it cost to talk to God?" She replied "Just 25 cents; it's a local call". Of course, we all know that talking with God is free, and we can do it as long as we desire.

Many years later, at a women's retreat I saw a softer, more whimsical side of Jesus. Somehow, I had missed out on this before. He had given me times of intense joy and quiet direction. But this was something much greater. I prayed to God to heal me physically. Suddenly I understood that I needed healing in every area of my life. He cured my heart and soul that weekend.

Pride had kept me from believing God would heal me. God's word is powerful; not proud, like man's wisdom. He is gentle, not harsh.

Paul said, "Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?". Solomon said "His desire is for me."

God loves us and wants to heal us. His grace must be accepted by faith. "Which is easier", Jesus asked,"to forgive sin or to say you are healed?" "Take up your mat and walk."

In Luke I saw Mary and Martha in a new way. The offer to sit at Jesus' feet was extended to Martha as it is to everyone. He desires to be intimate with us first and foremost. Serving Him comes later.

Other bible passages showed me the necessity to pray with faith, humility, and in God's will. I went up to my room and lay down on my bed to have a quiet time of prayer. Jesus felt so close to me. He whispered to me softly, "I am healing you." At times he instructed me not to move. I wanted to know more.

"It's a secret", he replied. He was teasing me. We played and frolicked around in the grass, like a father and his child. We both said "I love you, I love you" over and over until it became one voice. I felt our hearts joined together, and it was pure joy!

He asked me to rest and let Him take care of all my concerns. "Do not get too busy in doing things" he said. He laid out my purpose in life with an image. Our hearts were yoked together, bringing in the harvest. At first I was surprised. I felt so helpless. He assured me that He would always be with me, to make it easy.

"Of course", I thought, "I should have known this already." I spoke at church almost 30 years ago on this very topic. "The fields are ripe and ready for the harvest but here are not enough workers. Who will bring in the harvest?" God used that very picture of us yoked together to remind me of my desire so long ago. It got lost in the busyness of my life. Now, slowly, I am willing to do things His way and am thirsty to know Him better. I want to know Him more every day, as I sit at his feet to pray, play, and obey.
