How Real Faith Affects How You Think

In our world today, most of us focus constantly on our thoughts. It is not uncommon for most of us to believe that our thoughts are reality.

I define real faith as the ability to let go of our mind-made reality. That means that we do not hold onto our past conditioning, our beliefs or our attachments. To quote St. Thos. Aquinas, "To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible." Unfortunately, when we believe what we think to be true, we allow it to happen. We go around perceiving things and slipping them into the folders that we have already created in our mind.

Imagine if you allowed the moment to just be, without being seen through the eyes of your old concepts. To just be in that moment takes faith. With faith, you naturally let go of your thinking mind and enter silence. In that silence, you find powerful inner resources in The Wisdom of the Body.

When people face the threat of death, it is common for them to let go of the concepts that don't work for them. That creates a super-conscious moment and the ability to live in faith. We, too often, take the thoughts of other people, especially those that we respect, to replace that moment with a sense of knowing something. It is as though, living in the absence of knowing is like walking around naked in this world. To avoid that uncomfortable feeling, we cover ourselves with thinking that is not always conscious. It is our fear of the unknown that destroys real faith.

Now, think of what life would be like if we interacted from faith?

• We wouldn't put people into categories and know them by the way we think. We would accept them in the moment as they are.


• Then when people accepted you in the moment, you would begin to relate to yourself in that way. That would erase the limitations you learned from your past and give you the ability to live in the moment with faith.


• It is easy to have the creations of the mind become the crutch you lean on. Faith allows you to enter silence, respond to a higher consciousness and become the whole person you were meant to be.


• The reality of family and friends could be an exquisite gift, but when those people are just images in your mind, that stops your consciousness from connecting to an Ultimate reality.


• Now imagine those special moments when you are conscious in the moment like this. You would live in the Zone, operating totally conscious at your very best. Your love would be free from mental limitations and your relationships would be free from ego's control.


• Healing would become an incredible opportunity to discover the Wisdom of the Body. Health expenses would decrease and personal suffering from illness would no longer exist. Doctors would accept the patient's role in healing as the way conscious health care happened. Doctor patient partnerships would evolve modern medicine far beyond how wonderful it is now. Getting sick and healing would become the way people grow instead of being they way they are defeated.


• As people grew closer to inner wisdom, the spiritual perspective would become the norm. Religions would appreciate people from different beliefs, for love would not be limited by the way you think. Humanity would share the tenderness that came from that quality and our inner peace would manifest.
