- Endometriosis is also one of the most common causes of infertility. This is a condition where uterine lining is growing outside of the uterine cavity.

- Many venereal diseases.

- Problems of the ovary: Any imbalance of the five major hormones controlling the female reproductive system causes infertility.

- Abnormal adrenal or thyroid hormone levels may also cause problems in the ovaries.

- Problems of the immune system: Sometimes the women's body destroys sperm mistaking it to be a foreign body.

- Failure to produce progesterone by the egg follicle. This dysfunction is known as luteal phase defect.

- Uterine fibroids: These are benign growths of muscle and tissue of the uterus.

- Variety of other different abnormalities in the uterus.

- Surgical complications: Scar tissue resulting from abdominal surgery can be a cause for infertility.

- Uterine muscle problems

- Cervical mucus issues.

- Age: Fertility will decrease with age. Fewer number of eggs is left and the quality of them may not be as good as used to be.

- Stress has been proved to be one factor that may decrease your fertility.

- Poor diet

- Athletic training.

- Both obesity and underweight can cause hormonal abnormalities causing infertility.

- Cigarettes: Countless number of studies have showed that smoking influence for fertility.

- Too much alcohol.

- Sexually transmitted infections.

- There are two types of ovarian cysts - those that don't affect for fertility and those that do. Cysts that may cause fertility issues are quite large, and in that case surgical operation might be wise.
