Overall Good Health - Simple Ways to Make Improvements

Everyone seems to be talking about being in good health. That prospect can be daunting if you\'ve been neglecting yourself for a number of years. I was once in that position. Here are some of the simple steps I took to improve my health.

At one time in my life, I paid NO attention to my health. I ate whatever I wanted to eat. I barely drank any water. I got very little sleep most nights. I didn't really even try to control my anger. I thought absolutely nothing of it until I got out of my 20's into the more difficult 30's when most bodies cannot and will not deal with being neglected. All was not lost though. Below are some of the simple things I started doing to show more concern for my physical and emotional well-being.

1. I started talking about my problems. Yes, this is first on the list because it made the most significant impact. One day I woke up and realized that I was hurting myself severely by keeping my feelings bottled up. Since I've seen the benefits of tactfully expressing my feelings, I am very grateful that I made the change.

2. I get as much sleep as I need. Every night, barring any unforeseen emergency, I get 7 to 10 hours of sleep. Every single night for the past 5 years or more, so much that most, if not all, of my friends and family, do not dare to call my phone past 10PM.

3. I drink water, lots and lots of water. It was a bit difficult at first. But eventually, one to two glasses increased and now I drink 6 on my worst days, 10 on most.

4. Fiber, fiber, fiber. I don't eat food that doesn't contain fiber. I don't see the purpose. As far as I'm concerned, eating food with no fiber does more harm than good.

5. I help others. When I'm feeling bad about my circumstances, I do something for someone else, even if it's something as simple as just listening to them without interruption. I feel better, they feel better, a win-win situation.

There are hundreds more that you could add to the list, but these 5 are the things that were the simplest to implement in my life. However simple, they yield great benefits to both my physical and emotional health!
