In 1972 I had a vision of the future. By 1979 I\'d achieved it. All of it. By 1980 I\'d sabotaged my current reality. Nature\'s law had kicked in. Most people are struggling in life, not because they lack a vision, or because they are lazy. Most people struggle because they\'re clever. If I want something bad enough, I become clever enough, somehow, to get it. But what then? What happens when the world starts getting smarter and you and I start getting those things we dreamed about, sooner rather than later.

All About Mary
Mary came to me with some serious stuff going on. She was having an affair, had three kids, was drinking a bit too much and was catching the flu all too frequently. Mary wasn't stupid. Mary was smart and because she was cunning, smart and intelligent Mary had everything she'd dreamed of.
Mary's problem wasn't going to be solves in self-help, therapy, psychology or resolution of her mind blowing affair. Mary was, in the language of the kitchen, over cooked.
You see, while Mary was driving to make a family, build a career and put her heart and soul into what she was creating, Mary was happy, even though life had its ups and downs, she thrived on it, and self-help helped.
Once she'd built the castle then her flame went out, and everything she has done since has been about getting it alight again. She's partied, had lovers, done family holidays, changed jobs, had personal coaching - Mary has really tried to make sitting in a damp puddle better. But that's not the solution, that's just survival.
What Mary didn't understand was her own evolution.
From 5 years of age to about 25-30 years of age, motivation is a real driving force, but after that it's no real trigger for happiness. We get wise, and that wisdom kills the naivety of motivation. We are ready to move to inspiration... but most people don't make the leap.
And live quiet lives of desperation, doing yoga, having dinner, buying houses, having affairs, raving vicariously about their devotion to their children and in some cases becoming advocates to save the planet... or in more explicit terms, save themselves from boredom of repetitive, uninspired life.
Survival mode is Motivational Code
Why do people get stuck in boredom? Because the beliefs they had that served them to get from 5-30 years old get stuck. They change, but the real shift is internal, values, beliefs and purpose need to rise, and that is where most people grow old, searching on the outside for what comes from the inside.
You want to grow old, fast?
Simply hold onto those fabulous beliefs that built the family, created the wealth, generated excitement for you when you were 20 years old, and try applying them when you are 30 years old...
Substitutes?
Food, greed, sex, spirituality... these are what people grope for when the candle goes out and their life spark is diminishing. How did they arrive at this substitute place? They arrived by being incredibly clever, cunning, smart and genius to achieve what they wanted. They just don't know how to raise the bar above more of the same, repetitive patterns of same old same old, just more of.
Change Agents?
There are many people who believe that being critical about something in the world, themselves or others is helpful.
They say things like "I can't believe that there is obesity in a world of starving children" or "how could they eat animal flesh?"
Making a stand in the world is popular. Some people even define themselves as an "Anti" this or a "Pro" that... and when you meet them, they want to convert you with very strong arguments.
Take "global warming worry warts" or "save the salt water crockodile" antiques...
If you wait long enough those same people will become "global freezing" worry warts and "kill the crocks" antiques... they just go with mass information and are very persuasive by their passion.
The Shift that's needed.... Motivation to Inspiration... A bigger WHY.......
If people are smart enough to get to make families, get jobs and build a skill, then they are smart enough to know when motivation is fake and where substitutes are no longer healthy or real.
Releasing the old Motivational Code - Stay Young
Inspirational people do not make a stand. No... they see both sides and their mind stays clear. Emotional people have passion and want to motivate you to change. Inspired people have a vision and live it.
The difference is huge. Motivational people need you to become motivated toward their outcome. So, they try to convince you that they're right and you should invest your energy in helping them.
So if being a born again Christian got you to where you are, maybe you need to let that go. If being a buddhist got you here, maybe it's time to let that go... If being angry with your Dad or Mum for the past 30 years got you to this point, maybe it's time to let that go... If nothing changes, nothing changes.
Inspiration - the keys
Inspiration, which is one step beyond motivation, requires that you Turn Up... and that means not dragging the past into today.
To release the past, is not just saying "I'll avoid it" or "I've forgiven" no no, those are motivational languages.. To release the past, and turn up in the now, you need to LOVE THE PAST.
Love means, see the two sides of anything that's happened, or anyone that's been in your past, and be thankful for both sides.. thankful for the good news, thankful for the bad news.. Nature seeks balance in all things, and you are a part of nature...
If you find yourself saying "I never want to do that again" or "I want to avoid that person" just know, you're stuck in motivation and are ageing at an incredible and unnecessary rate...
Inspiration Keys - BIG WHY
Inspired people know that you have your own dreams and visions and that their inspiration will awaken your inspiration toward your own dreams. With inspired people their is a common result but divergent reason.. Everybody working together but not motivated by the same reason.
The interesting thing is that when you are motivated to achieve something, it's because your perception of that something is positive.
In other words we get motivated if we think we will feel great by achieving the result. Now, this is where the inspired person doesn't buy in...
Inspired people know that there's two sides to everything, including those things they want. Hence, motivation becomes "transcended"
How can you motivate me if I already know that with your carrot comes a turnip?
You can't, you can only inspire me. Inspired means a HUGE WHY? A reason greater than your own pleasure needs or pain avoidance mechanism... do you have it?
