My suggestion still is that we should come out and show the world how many we are. Maybe that is the way to show how normal our abnormality is. In order to do this, in order to change the world for us all we will need to help each other come out. We will need to take others by the hand and help them with the difficulties of coming out.

Some of us are the gay-parade type and others are the safe in my closet type, but somehow it all boils down to "please forgive me I am Gay". I know the paraders like to think that they are liberated, but being liberated means that you do not need to make a statement anymore; Heterosexuals does not have parades to state their sexuality. I also know that many of us get irritated with the closeters, but if your life, your social security or job depends on it, we will all stay in the closet.

Asking forgiveness for where I shove my show in the privacy of my own private and paid for bedroom is ridicules and yet that is where we stand. Why would I kiss my hubby in public if I risk my life doing it? There is no honor in being stupid. Yet, we all long for a place where I can show my affection in public without risking my jawbone for it. That is why we like our gay clubs and gay bars - it's the closest thing to normal we have, but is it normal to have only one or four clubs with exactly the same type of people where you can relax? Most probably it is not.

I here you saying "so what?" and you are right, but still it means that society decides where I can relax or not. Every time we gain a gay right it is a right with an addendum.

*Right: Of course you can be yourself in public; Addendum: just go to your own club to do it.

*Right: Of course you can be yourself in our bar; Addendum: just know we are not going to defend you if some Nazi is going haywire.

*Right: Of course you can get married; Addendum: but not under normal law, we will invent a partnership for your type.

*Right: Of course you can adopt children; Addendum: just realize that social services are going to scrutinize your situation with a double standard.

*Right: Of course you can take children from a children's home out for the weekend; Addendum: as long as they are gay (can you imagine the home saying to a heterosexual couple: as long as they are straight?).

*Right: Of course you can join our club/ church/ membership; Addendum: just be discreet about your sexuality.

At the end we still stand by our "pardon me."

So what shall we do? Start a parade? Keep in the closet?

Sorry, it makes no difference what so ever; and don't tell me you don't care.

Dealing with parents, children, colleagues, family and friends are not easy, but a lot of us already went through it and survived; we have a lot of experience between us and we could easily give advice and support.

Does that sound about right?

Then why do we struggle to get gay people involved in worthy causes that benefits us all. Are we a lot of selfish persons who can't make any contribution to mankind's survival, as some straight people suggest?
