Then they toss in the odd sideline that they offer (because it's profitable, right?) and expect the entire website to go together and make them a fortune. Truth is, you have to focus. Determine the goal of the site and stick to it. You can not be everything to everyone and if you try to do that, you will end up getting nowhere.
2 - Create a Weekly Action Plan: This is as much about time management as it is about accomplishing the goals of your strategy. 3 - Stay on Schedule: If you can only afford three or four hours a week, that's fine. But stay on that schedule and make more time when you can. Get the simple tasks out of the way first and leave more time for the more difficult ones.
4 - Learn how to create your own time saving short cuts: Like just about anything else in life, the more you do of it, the better you will get at it. Work to improve your skills while you stay focused on your strategy. Learn to use good online resources like forums, blogs and various articles. You may even consider working with a coach. The money spent will get you to your goals a lot quicker.
5 - Test, Test and then test again: Growing your business is a challenge in any economic climate. Even though you have to stay focused on your overall strategy, start to test other methods of building your business. That may include changing the way you sell products by creating bundles; up-sell or cross sell products on your site; sell upgrade warranties; publish and circulate articles about your industry; add additional more interesting information for your opt-in e-mail list and auto responder series. There are a variety of marketing tactics you should be testing as you continue to grow your business. But most importantly, never stop doing what works.
