There are as many ways to make money on the internet as there are people on this planet. The bottom line is if you add value to the marketplace, you will make money.
The Basics of Making Money (Anywhere)
If you want to make a profit anywhere (online or offline), you have to have more money coming in (income) than going out (expenses).
A large portion of the money made in this world is created by selling products and/or services. The key to being profitable is selling something for more money that it costs to sell it. This is basic, I know, but sometimes people forget the big picture.
Remember: You're NOT Looking For Just Income!
I know this sounds preposterous, but hear me out. There are tens of thousands of guides out there promising to "teach" you how to build an income online. Of course, we're not in it to just make money (income), we need to do so at a profit! For the purposes of this article, we're interested in how to sell goods/services online that will provide more income that the amount it costs to get the sale. There are still thousands of programs that claim they can help you make a profit online. Which ones (if any) work? Why should you start?
Why Most internet marketing Programs DON'T Work (at least not completely)!
If you're new to Internet Marketing (IM), you first need the big picture. It is important for you to see all the parts involved and then understand the underpinnings of the process. Too many courses out there position themselves as the only thing needed to profit online when in fact, they just teach a tiny method within the grand scheme of online marketing. I'm not saying these programs are useless, in fact, I use many of the methods I learned from these products. However, one method alone didn't make me a successful internet marketer.
Marketing Basics
Even before you learn the basics of internet marketing, you MUST understand the principles of marketing in general!
You have a product (or service) to sell, you have an offer, you get people to look at your offer and they (hopefully) buy it.
First, you have a product you want to make available to the masses. Next, you must know your market! Who is the product/service for? Who would find this useful? Next, segment your market. What are the age groups of the market? Are there different subgroups that would respond to a different offer? Then, market the offer to each segment.
That is basic marketing. We're just applying these principles to a new medium: the internet. In many cases, the product is electronic, and there is no need for shipping or inventory. In other cases, the product is physical, but the pitch is electronic and works 24/7.
