Stop Trying So Hard at Internet Marketing

Oh man did I ever try at the beginning of my marketing. I thought that everything needed to be perfect when I posted it. I needed the perfect phrase in the perfect article with the perfect keyword, sound familiar? Here are some tips I used to move my marketing forward.

Make a plan

Plans rock! Keep your days simple and start out with a plan. (I still don't have this one down pat) Plans will help you stay focused on what you wanted to get done without getting side-tracked. Try laying out on paper or an outlook reminder some small tasks. Things you can take care of in under a 1/2 hour or so. That way you can feel good about accomplishing something and establish some momentum. Keep it easy and simple at first and don't overwhelm yourself, if the tasks are bigger than you then they might not get done. Also, breaking up those larger tasks will make them more attainable and easier to put behind you.

Stick with your plan

After the plans for tomorrow have been established, STICK TO THEM! I have screwed myself over time and time again, even got myself put in the doghouse a few times. When all I had to do was stick to my plan, or make one to stick to (that was the case for me anyway). I suppose I had a hard time with listening to anybody, after all I was working for myself right? But all of that procrastination and inaction got me a big pile of nothing, so make a plan, stick to it and have a good time. I always have time for my family because that's what is important to me. Laying out and going through with my marketing plans is what allows me the freedom I was originally seeking in the first place.

Master one thing at a time

For me at first, I was really overwhelmed with the actual amount of different ways to market. If you are reading this you probably know what I am talking about. Between Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook it's enough to keep you busy all day, all week, all month but they are all pretty easy to set up and grasp. It's the strategies that will engulf your days. That's where the mastering one thing at time can come into play. If you are not producing results than you have not mastered it yet. All of those have proven results from some well known marketers but it's just as easy to replicate their results with some persistence and focus. Take all the time you need to get comfortable, stick to one thing at a time, and stop trying so hard!
