Once listed, people will see your address, phone number, and a map to your place of business in their local search listings. Of course, they already know your name and are searching for it specifically, which is why it easily comes up on Google.
So why have a website at all for your local business?
If you are simply using your website in a very limited way as described above, then I would ask a similar question. Why take it beyond just a few friendly looking pages with basic information that could just as easily be found in Google Local Search or in the yellow pages? An online business is different than a local business. This is where many local business owners miss the mark in marketing their business online. First of all, they do not see the potential of building a website that is a business unto itself. It may be an extension of your local business, but someone half way around the world finding your website online won't care. Their experience is strictly linked to the experience they have through their mouse and keyboard.

Short of a multi-million dollar advertising campaign through conventional channels, online marketing of your business is the only way to reach the masses with your product, service, or information. It is also the least expensive way if you do it right. If you do not want to market your business globally, there is still great opportunity to make money from your website through your expertise.
Traffic equals dollars, even if you are not selling anything specifically. Advertising alone on a high traffic website is worth the effort. The secret is building your website in a way that gets traffic from people around the world who do not even know you exist. It takes an approach to online business that operates in an entirely different world than any local business.
