The average Joe would have to take a big risk in building a business and taking on the overhead to have any chance of getting to the public. The problem was the average Joe was working a regular job and didn't have a massive amount of money to advertise and handle overhead to affect millions.

The emergence of the Internet made that overhead reduced to a substantially low affordable price that the average Joe could now afford. In the beginning of the Internet there were not over 1 billion people online like there is today.

It was also less advanced and very basic of a platform to express a grand statement. With the advancement of the Internet and technology it is now impossible for anybody to reach the masses with any message that you want to express.

With affiliate marketing, which means promoting another persons product you have endless power in the stream of income that you can create. In 2010 you can promote thousands of products for companies and take a percentage of each sale created from your work.

You also can make your own product which do not have to be physical products. You have an abundance of resources and information online to give you a way to create your plan. You have the ability to build your stage and put people in the seats of your stadium.
