Owning a website just isn't enough anymore to create an online presence, so you have to think creatively to find a way for users to find your website and once there stay on it looking through all of your content.
You must make that website as interactive as possible so that users hang around absorbing your brand and ideas. There are several ways to make a website interactive:
· Use images that users can interact with such as when they hover their mouse the images move or change colour.
· Video embedded - Allow the user to find your video and choose to play it when they like.
· Creative menus - Drop down menus add functionality to a design and a great visual appeal.
· Live feeds - Use twitter to feed your latest tweets into your website or use a relevant news feed, for instance if you have a property website you can feed in the latest property news allowing users to read it and stay put.
· Flash banners - You can have certain elements of your website animated such as the header or a side bar. This allows you to give a slick image to the users upon loading the site which is very visual indeed.
· Online games - Why not embed an online game into your website, make it small so it doesn't detract from your content but these are renown for keeping users on your website and bookmarking it. If you have the budget why not get one developed especially for your business so whilst the users plays it you can get your company message across at the same time.
· MP3 - You can use music within your website (Warning!! - give the user the option to hear it, do not force it upon them as they maybe in a working environment.) This can also come in the form of a downloadable podcast from either yourself or an outside source.
There are many ways as you can see to make your website an interactive one that will hold users onto your website. Try and be as creative as possible with this and remember that your website designer can help you with this, either incorporating into the initial site design or adding it to an existing one.
